Poplar Lodge is a detached house in almost an acre of grounds, situated in Tow Law in County Durham. The home provides residential care for individuals who have a learning disability and whose behaviours may place themselves or others at risk. The house can accommodate up to nine adults, all male.
Poplar Lodge is a stone built house that has a homely and domestic feel and the bedrooms reflect the individual occupant’s preferences. The home consists of nine bedrooms and two shared bathrooms. There is also a large communal kitchen, a warm and welcoming lounge, and a smaller quiet lounge. There is a fish tank in the lounge which one of the service users takes care of.
Due to the layout of the property, there are no accessible rooms at Poplar Lodge for people with mobility issues.
The large grounds provide opportunity for gardening activity, horticultural pursuits, maintenance projects and recreational activity. In the grounds, there are sheds and greenhouses, which are available to all service users. Additionally, each service user at Poplar Lodge has their own plot of land which they are responsible for maintaining.

Poplar Lodge is situated near Tony Law in County Durham. There are regular buses to the nearby towns of Stanley and Darlington, where there are plenty of shops and places to eat.
