Rocklyn is comprised of two terraced houses, joined at the ground and first floor levels. Rocklyn provides residential care for up to eleven male and female adults with mental health disorders and mild, moderate and acute learning disabilities.

The ground floor consists of two lounges, a dining room, a kitchen and an activity room. This means that there is a choice of communal areas, including space for private meetings with visitors. There are two bedrooms located on this floor, one of which has an ensuite.  A shared bathroom and toilet are also located on this floor for both independent and supported use. On the first floor, there are five single bedrooms, two bathrooms and a toilet, which are easily accessible to all of the rooms.

There are four single bedrooms and a lounge/study area on the second floor. Externally, there is a rear yard area with planters, tables and chairs and which is a popular meeting and relaxation area. The front of the house has two small garden areas and a parking facility.

Due to the layout of the property, there are no accessible rooms at Rocklyn for people with mobility issues.

The staff at Rocklyn are a dedicated and enthusiastic team, and offer consistent person-centred support. We have developed positive, trusting and respectful relationships with everyone and their family and friends. Our staff receive excellent training and have in-depth understanding of the diverse needs, wishes and ambitions of the people we support.

We promote independence and encourage all of our residents to make decisions and choices about their home and lives. We also promote fitness, exercise and healthy eating in all of our homes.

Rocklyn is situated in central Whitley Bay, within a five minute walk of the main shopping street and within fifty yards of the sea front. 

There are excellent public transport links to the nearby cities of Sunderland, Durham and Newcastle.
